Inspired by the organic form and function of
neurons, the piece visualizes the web of associations that link our past to our present. By
layering sheets of clear and translucent plexiglass
with painted illustrations, the piece displays the
complex and clouded nature of memory. The lines
of string indicate the many connections that exist
between ideas. Furthermore, the pink and yellow
abstraction made with paper echoes synaptic
connections, while the layered forms suggest how
memories resurface and connect. The piece invites viewers to reflect on their own mental landscapes,
exploring the questions: What triggers a memory,
and how is meaning reconstructed through
association?
